Will digital marketing be reliable in the long run?

Digital marketing has become one our most valuable ways of showcasing our services to the correct audience over the last decade. It has definitely improved over time and with the human knowledge advancing by the day, so has digital marketing as well as the strategies behind it and its reliability over time. Digital marketing has a lot to offer and there are definitely several ways in which one can go about making use of digital marketing but also learning about it. There are many categories and sectors that fall into digital marketing and it cannot be learned overnight.
So in what ways could digital marketing not actually be reliable in the long run?
One of the main ways in which people assume that digital marketing may not be as great later on is because of change. One of the main ways of understanding this is that several years ago we had traditional marketing, there as no such thing as digital marketing and people thought that traditional marketing was it and that the may not be something greater than that. This took a great change however since the digital marketing concept came about and it ended up turning into the next great thing for millions of people around the world. Digital marketing has changed and improved many things along the way and since traditional marketing, digital marketing has been the next great big thing. This begs the question, what is the next change? What will actually be the next great big thing which will be bigger and better than digital marketing? It is without a doubt that with technology advancing so quickly and the humans becoming smarter and smarter, we will come up with a newer, better and bigger concept which in turn will replace digital marketing. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing however because it could end up improving many people's ways of showcasing their services and people receiving services too.
Millennials are nothing new and so is Gen Z. If you’re curious about the consumer of tomorrow, you should keep your eye on Generation Alpha as they are definitely switching things up.
Who are generation Alpha?
So, “Generation Alpha will be the most formally educated generation ever, the most technology-supplied generation ever, and globally the wealthiest generation ever,” says Mark McCrindle, who researched and confined the name for the generation born between 2010 and 2025.
Surely, generation Alpha is the first generation completely born into technology. Being exposed to technology during formative years will probably result in their digital literacy, high expectations for gamification, shorter attention spans, and who knows what else. This means that the future of digital marketing in the long run could look very different in more ways than one and right now there is no clear answer or angle to approach in finding out what could the future changes of digital marketing hold in store for us.
This isn’t to scare you however, the idea of marketing as a whole has changed IMMENSELY, but this doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad thing. Marketing and Digital marketing is so much more effective, progressive and smarter nowadays in comparison to 30 years ago for instance. This could only mean that the future reliability of digital marketing as a whole is looking pretty strong as well as extensive, so it could point out to be the best thing yet for us.
